Workflow Research - About Us

Workflow research is a website dedicated to research on process automation and workflow management. Workflow management is, in the largest sense, the coordination of work processes through software. A workflow management system routes pending activities to process participants according to a model of the process. Workflow management systems have been around since the late 1970s, but every now and then they are rediscovered in a marketing wave such as Office Automation, Business Process Reengineering, or Web Services Choreography.

Workflow Research is maintained by Michael zur Muehlen (that would be me) as a repository of papers, presentations, and links on the topics of process orientation, management of process organizations, and workflow automation in general. I will use this spot to hightlight current research projects I am working on, or refer to projects of colleagues that I think are worthwhile to mention.
