GI-Jahrestagung im Rahmen des 13. World Computer Congress, IFIP Congress '94 Hamburg Springer19Business processes play an important role in analyzing and designing a company's behaviour and organization. Modeling business processes is an integral part of the Semantic Object Model (SOM). The paper shows the basic concepts of business process modeling using the SOM approach and presents the design goals and architecture of an accompanying tool. 1. Basic Concepts of Business Process Modeling Using the SOM Approach The Semantic Object Model (SOM) is a comprehensive approach for analysis and design of business information systems and specification of business application systems (see [FeSi93a] and [FeSi93b]). The scope of the whole approach covers three major steps: . Enterprise planning: Identification of a company's universe of discourse, its goals and objectives 2 , its success factors as well as its value chains. . Business process modeling: From a behavioural viewpoint, a company consists of a set of business processes (see [FeSi93c]). Main processes contribute directly to ...$Ferstl, Otto K. Sifting through vendor promotional hype and identifying a set of techniques and tools that best meets a particular projects needs can be a daunting task. This article investigates BPR Methods, Techniques, and Tools (MTTs) and places them within an empirically derived reference framework. A comprehensive picture of BPR emerges that includes MTTs that help in reengineering strategy, people, management, structure, and technology dimensions of business processes. A BPR planning approach for customizing this framework based on unique project characteristics is then offered to assist in selecting those BPR project activities and techniques to be emphasized. This flexible framework and comprehensive survey of commonly used BPR techniques and tools forms a knowledge base to improve business process change practice and provides a basis for future BPR research. However, knowledge of the organization's performance becomes buried within internal processing of the B2B workflow platform. This research introduces a framework that analyses workflow audit logs, utilizing DSS principles together with agent technologies, to feedback the organization's performance measures. We apply this framework to a private trading exchange case study where suppliers participate in an interorganizational order fulfillment workflow. Agents refine the organization's knowledge of supplier productivity and commitment as they learn from interactions over time with trading partnersMcGregor, C.
